Community Prosecution

Welcome

Welcome to the new Rockland County District Attorney's Web site.

It's been a busy summer for the prosecutors and staff of the Rockland County District Attorney's Office. We're trying more cases, winning more convictions and strengthening relationships with our police departments and communities to develop strategies to prevent crimes before they occur.

Local residents are helping to make a difference by engaging directly with our Community Prosecutors. The daily communication with our local businesses, neighborhood associations and residents has become essential to understanding how to best utilize our limited law enforcement resources.

The staff of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office grew by one this summer with the arrival of “Lily the Therapy Dog.” We also worked hard to meet state requirements to ensure appropriate enforcement of the final provision of the Child Passenger Protection Act, also known as "Leandra’s Law." The provision marks the first time that New York State has mandated ignition interlocks for all misdemeanor and felony drunken driving convictions. The interlock program has been a major undertaking in Rockland County, where 800 motorists were convicted of DWI last year alone.

In the weeks to come, look for exciting news regarding the completion of the "Spirit of Rockland" Special Victims Center and the expansion of our successful Youth & Police Initiative.

Thank you again for visiting our website and learning more about us. The Rockland County District Attorney's Office is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our communities through the vigorous prosecution and prevention of crime, while maintaining high ethical standards to ensure that justice is accomplished in all cases.
